i want to have my teeth whitened?

i want to have my teeth whitened by my dentist. what is a good method of whitening. i dont want my dentist to convince me the method his office is using is the best. can u tell me about ur experience with whitening. what kind u used ? the after effects? how long it lasted? did it hurt? was it expensive? was it worth it? and did anyone notice?

I had laser bleaching done on my teeth. It was a very quick procedure and everyone noticed my white teeth right away. The downside is that my teeth felt very sensitive to anything even midly cold and I had some for about a day. I had my teeth done about 5 months ago and they are still pretty white even though I drink coffee and tea evey single day. Laser whitening costs a ***** load of money typically ($1000 or more) but I got a discount, which is why I got it done. Otherwise, most of my friends have gotten their teeth chemically bleached by the dentist, but then it takes maybe 3 or 4 followup appointments and the results aren't immediate. That costs about $500. From what I've heard chemical bleach will make your teeth sensitive too, but the results are just as good. I personally would go for the chemical bleaching for the money you save. If you have a time constraint though, you can pay extra for laser. or Britesmile bleaching.
