Im 38 and have really yellow teeth. I hate to even smile. I brush my teeth every day and I dont drink coffee,?

wine, and hardly ever tea. Nor do I smoke. I dont understand why my teeth are so yellow. I want to get my teeth whitened but Im wondering if I should make sure there are no other problems in my teeth first, such as a cavity or something. Do those sorts of problems need to be fixed before teeth whitening or can you go ahead and do it first? Also, is it done in one visit or several visits?

If you are concerned there may be something wrong with your teeth, get them checked out before you whiten. Unless you're having pain, you probably don't have anything wrong. If this is the case, a Dentist can whiten your teeth in one or two visits. Most of the time, just one visit. But people with severe and/or stubborn stains may need a second visit. Do you know that it costs about 400-500 dollars to get them whitened by a Dentist? You can do it yourself at home in several treatments for a week or two and get them pretty white. If so, there are plenty of effective self whitening kits to choose from. I forget the name, but there's one where you use a blue light after you apply gel to a mouthpiece. This makes the gel work much faster and you can achieve white teeth sooner, in about a week. Whatever you decide, good luck!
