I have a grayish tone to one of my front teeth (completely the dentists fault), so my dentist said he would fix it no charge. However, he told me he would be uncomfortable putting the cap on my tooth unless I got them bleached or whitened first because the cap will be that color permanently. Has anyone ever heard of this, or been told this? Any opinions??? Should I match my cap to my teeth as they are now, or whiten them first? Thanks in advance :)

Whitening is temporary. Just like a tan fades when summer is over, as you eat things that stain teeth, red sauces, wine, coffee, dark soda, as an example, the whitening dulls. You should match the tooth to the teeth you have now. Why is the tooth gray?? If it has a root canal, sometimes the dentist can bleach the tooth from the inside. Is it a wrong color filling? Have him remove it and redo it with a lighter shade. Do you need a cap on the tooth?? If you need more answers, lemme know.
