School is starting in a few weeks, and I want to whiten my teeth before it starts, since my teeth are yellow. I told my mom I wanted to buy a pack, but she told me not to because she said it would make my teeth more able to show stains and could damage my enamel. But going to the dentist to get your teeth whitened costs hundreds of dollars, and Crest whitestrips classic costs about $20. Will it help to whiten my teeth?

I was given them by my orthodontist after I got my braces off. This is because braces made it difficult to brush my teeth so I had yellow spots around the brackets. He gave me the Premium strips.. which.. I don't think there's a difference since I have Classic now (other than Premium gives you more strips). I didn't even have to finish the entire package in order for my teeth to turn dramatically whiter. It got rid of all those nasty yellow spots and my teeth looked fantastic. I saved the rest of the package thinking that it would go away in 12 months like it said but it lasted way longer! I was able to use the rest of the package for touch-ups before photos or prom and whatnot. I'm only now having to whiten my teeth again after graduating high school! If my orthodontist gave them to me.. they obviously cannot be that damaging to your teeth. He was truly an awesome orthodontist. Not only that, but I had sensitivity issues prior to using the strips anyway (no ice in my drinks please) and I noticed no difference after using them. Cold things didn't hurt any more than they had before. They did not hurt while on either, even if doing them back-to-back. I know I sound like a commercial, but seriously.. If you wanna whiten your teeth, go for the whitestrips. Good luck! Worst case scenario... You get them, try them and they hurt or don't work. You're out 20 bucks. Give it a shot :)
