How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

okay my first question is: what is it in teeth whitening strips that make your teeth change color to white? what chemicals? what substances react to each other? My second question is: can the substance be made using home made items? Third question: can the substance(s) in teeth whitening strips whiten any thing other than teeth or any item that is almost made out of the same substance as teeth? if so, what substances are made of of the same things teeth have? |for science project|

Hydrogen peroxide seems to be the main active ingredient in teeth whiten strips. Hydrogen peroxide can be used for many different reasons. 1) Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters 2) After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria 3) And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change 4) Clean with hydrogen peroxide when your house becomes a biohazard after its invaded by toxic mold, such as those with water damage-Truth!
