Is it ok to take some whitening toothpaste and rub it on your front teeth overnight before bed and leave it?

just wondering if thats a good idea and it might help whiten my teeth and make them stronger, or is leaving pure toothpaste on your teeth for along time bad and overpowering?

Doing so won't be effective, as whitening toothpaste is designed to work via brushing, not just sitting there. Fluoride is also slightly poisonous and should not be ingested (small amounts are ok, no need to call the poison control center if you accidentally swallow the amount of toothpaste normally used for brushing, but it's not something you should do intentionally). Whitening strips or trays are designed to adhere to the teeth and contain a whitening ingredient that removes stains from the teeth via contact. The strips or trays also adhere lightly to the teeth, so they are not washed away by saliva like tooth paste would be. I've personally used the store brand whitening trays, which run about $23 for a 10-day treatment and are extremely effective.
