Should teeth be whitened before putting on a crown?

so i got a crown( temporary) put on today and ive been wanting to have my teeth whitened .. is it too late to whiten them now?

I would say to call your dental office right away so they could let the lab know to hold off on the process of baking on the porcelain before you have your new shade match. The lab can at least start to make the mold and the inner lining of gold and can hold on to the crown until you come back for your new shade and they can usually finish it very soon thereafter. Also the dentist might recommend that you have a prophy (cleaning) before you take the steps of whitening because they need to have as much tartar and calculus removed to help with the process of whitening because if there's too much on your teeth then your basically wasting your time because it's going to take a lot longer to get any type of results. However, if you've had a cleaning recently then great! But call the office very soon so they can contact the lab. Good luck. Hope it all works out.
