Because from what I gather from the packaging it only whitens teeth and nothing else so should I use an additional toothpaste that fights plaque etc or is using listerine mouthwash after cleaning with whitening toothpaste enough?

If you want white teeth, buy some strawberries and use the skin to polish your teeth. It works pretty well. If they're really stained, try baking soda and lemon juice. Put some baking soda on a tooth brush, drip some lemon juice on it and brush your teeth while it's still bubbling. That works really well, but be warned, it tastes like shite ;) No need to buy whitening toothpaste. I don't think it works anyway.
