I was wondering which one actually whitens teeth? Please don't mention the strips I hear they work every time and with wonder but sadly I am a piss poor college student and can't afford them.

They both work well, especially in conjunction with a whitening toothpaste. I use Rembrandt, or some nice cheap Tom of Maine's, or Arm and Hammer. You can additionally whiten by following up by using a peroxide-dipped brush and baking soda once a day. Sweetens, breath, whitens, and it's an inexpensive way to augment the toothpaste regimen. Or, as a substitute for "whitening mouthwash," a little bit of peroxide used as a mouthwash - tastes vile, but it works.
