Teeth whitening???

In a dentist office. How many shades dose a person usually go up?
--------------------
Having 25 yrs experience in Dentistry.Whitening in the dental office can probably be off the Vita Shade quide.I myself only bleached my teeth at home but made my own bleaching splints in the lab myself back in 1989 using Glyoxide(10% carbamide peroxide.Back then in the office we used Superoxide 35% with whitening light. Some people have either A,B or C shades of teeth.A shades are kind of white,B shades are yellow shades and C shades are grey.I was an A shade and went off the guide(starts at A-1 the lightest)But I only used home bleaching and went 2-3 shades lighter. But you have to continue bleaching your teeth forever to keep this shade.I recommend getting bleaching splints for upper and lower teeth and purchase the bleaching solution from your dentist. Two syringes cost about $20-40.Splints can run about $200-250 apiece. When you are broke pick up some Glyoxide in your toothpaste aisle at a Walgreens or Wal-Mart for about $6.Good luck but let me warn you your teeth may become very sensitive and it will not bleach crowns or bridges! Also your dentist for in office bleaching(whitening)charges by the tooth and can get very expensive.
