my tongue is extremely sensitive to listerine whitening mouthwash (it leaves the tip numb and it gets sores) and my teeth hurt really bad down to the root with crest white strips. are there any other options?
--------------------
Mmm, doubt it. But hey, who knows? The worst thing that can happen is that your already ridiculously sensitive mouth gets scarred horribly. Obviously, don't do it. You need to see a dentist, these kinds of issues are nowhere near healthy, but they're very likely treatable, if not curable. Best to get alternate option ideas from people with many years of schooling and experience than people online who give it a quick, "Huh, don't see the harm in it," and don't have to deal with potentially serious consequences. Especially over an issue like whitening teeth. Dentists can be expensive, but in this case it sounds more than warranted.

How do you whiten your teeth?
Does Listerine Whitening and Whitening strips actually work? My teeth are never very white, and how do you get them super white?
--------------------
many of the over the counter whitening solutions are pretty good now a days. you won't get the same result as you would at the dentist with Listerine, but they will make an improvement. Usually, the more you spend, the better the product Rembrandt strips and gel work pretty good, but the best is the Aquafresh whitening gels. They cost about $40, but it's less than a $500 dentist treatment. Also, the crest strips and other whitening products are good, but you need to use them every 4-6 months to maintain.

Expired whitening teeth strips?
Hello. Today I was planning on whitening my teeth with some whitening strips that I knew I had. When I found them, I realized they were expired in 04/2009. I know it sounds crazy, but how bad is that? I mean, will it make any effect on my teeth (positive or negative?). The best solution would go to a pharmacy and get a new box BUT they are not easy to find in the country where I live. That's why I'm asking here whether if I should use them or not and what effect will my teeth have. Thanks!
--------------------
try not to use it, because the whitening strips contain of hydrogen pexoride, is a chemical that help to bleaching your teeth.

we are a beauty salon;we want to offer botox and teeth whitening...?
can you recommend a company who are able to come in to our salon in Leeds and offer these services to our clients? we are not qualified ourselves so would like someone to perform the services , and we would take a small percentage
--------------------
You should contact dentists and doctors who are able to administer botox directly and ask them if they are interested. My local beauty salon (in Bristol) has a doctor from Harley Street come down once a month - literally to administer Botox all day - he takes a deposit of £50 for each client which covers his costs if they do not turn up. I believe he takes a one off fee for the use of the room for a day as any costs for work are discussed direclty with him. They also offer a similar service for teeth whitening. So ask around and you should be able to strike a deal. You just need to make it clear that your "providers" are duly qualified to administer their respective treatments to your clients - you want to put the onus on them rather than you for this - they are the ones delivery the treatment. It's a great idea - I had had my lips done (made bigger) but am building up the courage to go for the Botox!

What is the cheapest/best way to whiten your teeth?
I am in need of whitening my teeth, cheaply.
--------------------
you can use common household items to make your teeth whiter. Things you need : Toothpaste Toothbrush Baking soda Hydrogen Peroxide All you have to do is mix the peroxide and the baking together to a liquidy paste. Then mix in some of your toothpaste ( the toothpaste is to make it taste better ) Spread it onto your toothbrush and brush for about 2 minutes everyday for 5 days .

teeth whitening and flossing?
do any of those whitening things really worK???? also does flossing ever do any good i cant tell a difference in the flossing
--------------------
-- Whitening - the Crest White Strips - they work great ! My brother used them, and he use to smoke alot, and his teeth were really stained. But he started using them and you could tell the difference in a week. They're like 20$ for a box. Also, most dentists and orthodontists offer whitening/bleaching, usually around 60$. -- Flossing - flossing is just to get out trapped plaque you don't get when you brush. You can't really tell the difference, but when you floss you are actually removing that plaque. If you don't floss, the plaque will build up and cause stains and damage to your teeth over time.

What is the most effective but not very drastic way to whiten teeth?
what is way to whiten teeth that is extremely effective but is not very drastic where one day they are normal but the next they are sparkling....
--------------------
The most common option used as homemade teeth whitening agent is baking soda, which has a mild bleaching action. Given that it is used in baking, it also implies safety. Baking soda is sprinkled on the toothbrush, and teeth then cleaned using a gentle, circular motion. Care should still be taken though, especially for people with gum sensitivity. Old wives' recipes often state that a paste of baking powder, a little salt, and a few drops of white vinegar, works effectively. Salt, used exactly as baking soda, is also touted as being a good teeth whitener. However, it might just be its osmosis, dehydrating action that makes teeth appear whiter, since dehydrated teeth look whiter. Lemon juice is often used, but it had high acidic levels, so teeth can weaken in the long run. Other natural, fruit options regard rubbing the inside of an orange peel on the teeth. A strawberry cut in half and the inside rubbed on teeth also works. Mashed strawberry can also be applied with a toothbrush. Apple cider vinegar is also said to be effective. Dried orange rind, and walnut bark, is also good. For other effective home teeth whitening solutions, you may wish to read about them here : http://teeth-whitening.my-fashion-house.

teeth whitening...HELP?
I have been really busy this week so i have not had time to brush my teeth and they got super yellow! so if you could suggest some home treatments or products that work, that would be great. Oh and i am only 10 so please do not suggest anything i should not be using. The reason why the info sounds so awkward is because my keyboard is not working correctly. The reason why this
--------------------
Amazingly it takes more than one week for your teeth to yellow, this probably means your not brushing your teeth properly and you've only realised in the past week, the best thing to do it to get back on track with your brushing. try to avoid D.I.Y whitener kits as this can lead to damage and disaster

HELP!! TEETH WHITENING?
Is teeth whiting bad for ur teeth??
--------------------
It depends what kind of whitening, dental or the whitening strips. Anyways, if you whiten with whitening strips, like crest, your tooth enamel becomes weaker and your teeth become more sensitive, therefore your teeth could look whiter, but they can get weaker. If you buy whitening strips make sure to you follow instruction and don't use them too often. My sister uses them, but I she never complained though, so I guess you're all right as long as you don't use them too often. If you get dental whitening, you shouldn't worry about it, because the dentists know what they're doing. They obviously wouldn't do things that are bad for your teeth. After whitening though, you might feel a slight "burn" at your gums. Just ask a dentist for info about whitening. My advice to you is not to whiten your teeth, just make sure you floss once a day and brush 2 or more times a day, I'm pretty sure that could whiten them a bit. But if this doesn't work, just go to a dentist, or use those whitening strips.. but I'm pretty sure you should ask them first about whether or not you should whiten your teeth.

Teeth whitening help?
I have braces and I was wondering if I started using a whitening mouthwash would part of my mouth be white and the other half off of it be off white after my braces are off?
--------------------
actually i had braces like 10 years ago but i remember the braces being put on when the teeth were clean and so underneath the metal pieces that are glued to the teeth no food or anything is getting in there (usually what makes them yellow-stains). for this reason i think they were white in those spots when i got them off so doing the white around seems okay.

Can brushing with a hydrogen peroxide - baking soda paste really whiten your teeth?
I've heard that brushing with the said mixture can be an effective, not to mention dirt cheap, alternative to whitening your teeth. Has anyone tried this? What kinda of risks are involved in doing this, if any? Should/can it be used daily? Weekly? Of course, this would be used in conjunction to brushing with a regular fluoride based toothpaste, along with mouthwash and flossing. Thanks,
--------------------
I haven't tried that mixture, but I used to brush with peroxide, and it did indeed whiten my teeth. You just have to be careful because it will take the enamel off your teeth. Use it sparingly, and if your teeth get sensitive, stop.

Whitening teeth?
does ur orthodontist whiten your teeth a little when you get your braces off??
--------------------
I don't think so, no. Having a dentist whiten your teeth is usually a separate procedure and can get pretty pricey. Nothing beats getting it done professionally, but if you really want to whiten your teeth, you'd be better off getting an at-home kit like Crest whitestrips, etc. Some home remedies can be effective, but you have to use them often for any real results and they can be very irritating.

i want to whiten my teeth naturally. i dont want to use something that will take the anamal off and cost the big bucks. any natural ways of doing this?

No only do whiting stuff take off the Enamel but it also messes up your gums. The best way will to just brush your teeth at least 2 times a day and floss. Flossing isn't very fun but it does what your tooth brush can't. Baking soda helps with whitening

A porcelain crown will not change shade and neither will tooth colored restorations. If you lighten your teeth these will need to be changed to match, if they show.

whitening teeth?
what's the best thing I can get at the store to whiten my teeth?
--------------------
If you really want the best, go see your dentist. I would recommend Discus Dental products, because they are the industry leader and have the safest and most advanced products. Everything in the store is just an over the counter knockoff of them anyway. You'll pay more at your dentist, but you'll be getting the best, and your teeth deserve it. DON'T HAVE YOUR MOUTH OPEN ON A TANNING BED! That is the worst advice, because the inside of your mouth should never come in contact with UV rays as it isn't exposed to the sun during normal everyday living. In office chairside bleaching uses a rubber dam and extra thick gauze so the light only hits your teeth and the bleach. Plus, don't confuse in office bleaching (extremely expensive) with take home bleach (less expensive and extremely safe). I have seen people who went to the dentist and the gauze/dam weren't put on correctly and they were burned with purple gums :( DON'T RINSE WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE - Over time you will experience gum sensitivity and tooth sensitivity, hydrogen should ONLY touch the teeth that is why you get custom trays from the dentist. If you expose your teeth to hydrogen peroxide you are asking for tooth pain/gum pain.

Had my teeth laser whitened & i use a lot of whitening products but my teeth are still yellow?!?
had my teeth laser whitened not long ago and after that procedure i use a lot of whitening products & whitening strips to maintain the treatment i had but unfortunatelyy there still yellow. It gets me really down and stressed out iv spend so much money and nothing has worked. I don't drink tea, coffee or smoke, i drink a lot of water, milk and brush after having foods that stain. I've been to the dentist to have them cleaned and well that didn't do a lot. I also floss every other day :)

I wonder if you dentist explained to you the different types of tooth discolorations and the realistic whitening results to be expected for each individual. We are all born with specific color enamel, just like we all have a little different color skin or hair. Some people have very yellow teeth, perhaps they were raised in an area that had well water with a lot of fluoride. Those people usually get a good whitening outcome. Then there are those who where exposed to tetracycline when they were a baby and they have "grey" colored teeth. Unfortunately the grey colored tetracycline stain teeth do not whiten very well and usually require bonding or veneering of the teeth to achieve the desired result.

HELP!!! teeth whitening products?
okay school starts in 13 days and i was wondering which whitening product works the best. last night i just started using listerine whitening mouth rinse, do u think that will work? or do i need to use something else? thnx in advance :)
--------------------
Almost all the whitening products work, but you have to read the fine print. Trident White chewing gum, for example, whitens teeth but you have to chew 2 pieces like 3 times a day for at least 1/2 - 1 month to see the difference of 1 shade. There's plenty of whitening products that work fairly quick, the Crest White Strips line has like 2 products that work in 14 days. 1 very good suggestion is that you use a toothpaste sensitive teeth like Sensodyne, because your teeth WILL be intolerable and combine it with an enamel strenghtnening toothpaste. Be warned though, certain products that use trays or strips work only on your front teeth up to your canines. So if you have a big smile or something, you will probably need to check other options out.

Dentists use retracters so you might be able to ask yours for one or source it from a dental supplier. They are all uncomfortable so dont base your decision on that. You should just use trays that way your mouth doesnt need to be open.

Getting my teeth whitened at a dental clinic in Nogales, Mexico?
I'm heading to southern AZ in a couple week and would like to get my teeth professionally whitened at a dental clinic in Nogales (cost is prohibitive where I live). Anybody able to suggest a place?

Can't suggest a place, but just to warn you - afterwards I had toothache in pretty much every tooth in my mouth for about a day. Seriously, then they gave me another 3 supplements to do myself after... ouch! So yeah... worth it, but be afraid!

Teeth whitening post-braces?
I have had braces for a little over a year and a half and should be getting them off in the next couple of months, but feel my smile (although straight) won't be complete until it's white, so what whitening products do you reccomend? that are in a $0- $150 price range or somewhere along those lines, and actually work! please and thank you :)
--------------------
Try Listerine Whitening Mouthwash... you can find it at Walmart for a couple of bucks. :) I use it - and yes it works!! Use it twice a day for 12 weeks and you should see a difference... :) But I wouldn't whiten my teeth while you still have braces... you might end up with the spots on your teeth after you get them off. I heard about this lady who had really bad spots after she got her braces off, and even with expensive whitening toothpaste and dental work, the spots barely went away or made a difference... Just hang in there and keep on brushing for the next few months. It'll be worth it in the long run and you won't have ugly spots after you get your braces off! But in the meantime think about the mouthwash - it really works if you use it right!! :) Good luck!! =D - Mary Grace

A few questions about teeth Whitening...?
I don't have money to pay the dentist to do it, so I'm going to be using the strips. I just have a few questions about them... 1. What brand/type would you recommend? 2. How well do they actually work? 3. If you stop using them, do your teeth go back to how they were? (obviously I would continue brushing, etc.?) 4. How long does it take until your teeth looks better? 5. I think I read somewhere they may be bad for your teeth....is this true?
--------------------
I tried the Crest White Strips but had to stop after a few days. There was something in there (peroxide, I think) that made my teeth hurt, like I was chewing aluminum foil, and it kept getting worse. I use baking soda a few times a week now. Plus the White Strips were expensive.

How can I whiten my teeth?
I am getting married in July and want a bright, white smile. I currently brush my teeth twice daily with a whitening toothpaste, but my teeth are still yellow! I don't smoke or chew or anything like that, but I do drink dark drinks such as cola, tea and juice. I have Tried Crest White Strips but they made my gums sore and inflammed. Does anyone know a way to whiten my teeth without the obvious of avoiding dark drinks and brushing with a whitening toothpaste? And the cost of the treatment. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

k this works absolutely best of anything. I'm serious, do it: brush your teeth with baking soda even though it tastes disgusting, its great for your teeth and rinse with hydrogen peroxide. do this 2 times a day and you will have a model smile, i guarantee. my mom used to do this and she had THE whitest smile i had ever seen. im just too lazy and forget, but when i do this, it whitens it in about a week, and its cheap as can be.

Opalescence whitening for teeth?
I started using this stuff at home with the trays. Am only one week through my treatment. It is taking me forever to finish because I keep stopping due to how sensitive my teeth become. I notice my teeth are lighter, but not as light as I thought they would be. Any advice from other people how used this? Did you get great results? Do you think it will be better for me after another week of bleaching?

They are a waste of time, just remove stains. I have tried 2 brands and they never become as white as it shows on the picture. The only way for great white teeth, like the celebrities is UV treatment.

Is it smooth or rough? It may be some cement left on there. If it's rough it's cement and you need to go back to the Ortho to get it taken off. If it's smooth I have no clue...just ask your normal dentist.

Does whitening teeth with bleaching gel damage them?? (10 points!!!)?
Hi. I recently had my braces removed and am now wearing a retainer. My teeth look slightly yellow, and i really want to whiten them as I dont feel confident when I smile - even though my teeth are straight! I've heard that 5 minute plus white whitening gel works - but you can only buy that in the U.S... and I live in England! :( Do teeth bleaching products really work? but do they damage your teeth? thanks x p.s. do you know any good teeth bleaching products you can buy in the highstreet? (in england) :)

If your parents will give their consent and you have the right amount of cash for it, then you can have it done at any age. Some celeb kids get it done as soon as their adult teeth come through just to retain that 'hollywood' smile, so you should be able to have it done pretty soon. Good luck!

How much baking soda should I use a day to whiten teeth?
I want to whiten my teeth, and I was thinking about using baking soda. But i also heard that using too much can cause damage. How much should I use each time I brush my teeth?

Baking soda is an abbrasive which means it can wear away the enamel. You can buy toothpaste with whitening that does the job better. I love Crest Vivid White. It's $3 for a tube. I can tell a difference when I don't use it. Also, if you're looking for a quick fix I love the Equate Whitestrips at Wal-Mart. They come as cheap as $14. The only drawback to any of these whitening products is a little sensitivity.

Are the Brite Smile To Go Whitening Pens safe for my teeth in the long run?
Whitening Teeth Questions?
1.Do whitening strips make your teeth healthier or just appear healthy? 2.Is there a kind of whitening strips that are like "hard" not the plastic-y ones? like a retainer type one? and about how much do they cost? 3.What other ways can i make my teeth whiter besides whitening strips?I want to do all the possible ways. thank you<33
--------------------
Hi there, The whitening strips can make your teeth more sensitive, we always recommend using a sensitive toothpaste when whitening. Hmm, I know that at the dentist office they can make custom trays for you that are a little more less plastic-y than the ones that are store bought and they also fit your mouth better. I think the cost is around $360 for both trays. Other ways to get them whiter or keep them whiter... Try not to drink coffee or smoke... those are the most common things that make your teeth darker... I hope that helps a little bit.

Help whitening teeth?
I have a rare dental condition called dentinagenesis imperfecta or something like that which runs in my family. My baby teeth were brown (yuck, I know) and my adult teeth are much better. However, they're still not as white as I'd like them to be, and they're pretty dull looking. I brush my teeth 3 times a day with a whitening toothpaste and use Listerine Pre Brush Rinse. I think that it might help a tad, but I'm not really sure. Would Crest White Strips work on my teeth? What about one of those laser whitening things? My sister and father both got veneers, but my teeth aren't as bad, and they're expensive and hard to maintain. Help please!!!!!!!!

What I do is I have a tiny plate where I put baking soda on. So when I brush my teeth I dab my toothbrush in the baking soda and than I put on the toothpaste (make sure your toothbrush is wet before dabbing the baking soda). Then I brush my teeth for 3 minutes exactly. Instead of spitting it out right away take some mouth wash and rinse your mouth with the toothpaste and everything. Than you spit it out. Then I take the toothbrush and rinse it and dab it in the baking soda again. I brush my teeth for two minutes with plain baking soda. (It might taste funny but its sooo worth it) Then I rinse with mouth wash again. I finally take the mouth wash and rinse with nothing in my mouth. Than I floss. My teeth were 3 shades whiter in the first 7 days I used baking soda in my teeth-brushing routine. BTW, I suggest not having a lot of soda in your diet because its not good for your teeth. DONT DRINK OR EAT ANYTHING FOR THE NEXT HOUR. The thing is, baking soda fights stains in a TOUGH way, it also kills germs and leaves your breath smelling great, GERM-FREE. Hope this helped. I deeply wiish you luck with this method. I love how you didnt lose your confidence with this rare dental condition. Stay strong. God bless you and your family. I wish you success with healthy white smile. :)

If I want to get my teeth whitened, can the dentist redo a tooth colored filling to match the new color?
I am interested in getting my teeth whitened. However, I have a few filling on the front of my 2 top middle teeth that are tooth colored. However, if I get my teeth whitened, the fillings will be mismatched to the new color. Does anyone know if the dentist would be able to correct this? How would he go about it? Any idea on the range of how much it would cost to replace a single filling? Thank you=o)
--------------------
A dentist can change the color it's just like placing a filling nothing different is done, they'll be very willing to do it for you. they'll do the same thing they did to place the fillings, as far as cost goes it's different for every dentist. Some charge a reduced fee others will charge you what they normally charge to get a filling. if you have insurance it may cover part of the cost. ask ahead of time. dentist fees vary greatly from state to state city to city even neighborhood to neighborhood

How do i stop my teeth from coming out?
I'm 15 years old, and I'm starting to get yellow teeth, it feels as if my teeth are getting wobbly, and I'm scared that I'm going to get dentures soon. I brush twice a day and sometimes put the teeth whitening trays. I'm so scared that my teeth are going to come out, is there anything i can do to keep my teeth in? Please if anyone can help. Thanks.

Its not your teeth, its because your gums are not holding them in. Do you get your teeth cleaned twice a year. You must get the tartar scraped off, or it builds between the gum and the tooth. Making it loose. The dentist is the only one that can help you. Also, you do not want to get dentures too early in life. They tend to grind down the bone and by the time you are old, there is no ridge left for them to sit on. The thing about teeth is... You go to the dentist regularly, it costs a little and involves little pain. OR you go infrequently..and it costs big money w/ lots of pain. YOU CANNOT WIN

How do you whiten teeth naturally?
a natural way of whitening slightly yellow teeth at home and any other way other than brushing twice daily? Also, if you do have a solution then please also state the time for which it has to be used with your answer.... Any help is appreciated!
--------------------
Well first I would suggest not using whitening strips. They're not worth it, as they're more expensive and make your gums sensitive, when there's easier solutions. There's two highly recommended ways you can naturally whiten your teeth; baking soda or peroxide.I've never tried the baking soda method but I use peroxide. Peroxide is that brown bottle you use to clean cuts and what not, you can get for like a buck anywhere that has first aid products. In fact, it's actually the whitening ingredient in teeth whiteners. What I do is at night after I brush my teeth, I take half a capful of mouth wash (nonalcoholic) and a capful of the peroxide.. mix them and switch it in my mouth for a minute or two. Rinse out your mouth. I perfer to do this at night because it gives more time for the peroxide to set in rather than doing it in the morning then having it come off from eating.

You are right. That toothpaste works because it contains baking soda, which is a mild abrasive that literally scrapes the stains off. It also can raise your blood pressure because it contains a lot of salt. Try Crest White Strips.

I heard that you can use baking soda to whiten your teeth. I was going to try it, but I have braces right now. I know your not supposed to use most bleach/whitening treatments while you have braces, so should I wait until I get my braces off before I try it?
--------------------
I wouldnt try any extreme bleachig methods (such as baking soda) without the supervision of your ortho....and if you ignore your ortho...i wouldnt try anything still because it could actually remove the enamel in the places that are not underneath the bracket...so when you get the bracket off you are left with a big, obvious stained square in the middle of your teeth - not pretty

Polanight teeth whitening help needed please!?
I've been given Polanight 16% by my dentist who told me to use it overnight for 14 days. I have used it 6 times now and my teeth are now so sensitive I'm not sure whether to keep doing it. Also, only the bottom half of my teeth have changed colour, is this normal, will the whole of the tooth gradually change? Not sure if I'm using too much or too little gel, dentist was a bit vague! Any help or advice would be appreciated....

How to whiten your teeth?
I have pretty white teeth but one of the teeth near the front of my mouth (on the left side) is not as white as the others, and it really bugs me. (I''m pretty sure I don't have a cavity.) Are there any teeth whitening treatments I can use to whiten my teeth? I know about Crest whitestrips, but are those safe? I've heard they can be bad for your teeth, or they don't work at all.

WHITENING TEETH?!!!!!!!!!?
i brush everyday. drink 5 glasses of milk a day. use baking soda toothpaste, don't really like whitening teeth, its too much money. what can i do ?
--------------------
Step1 Brush and floss regularly to reduce or prevent stains. Step2 Try whitening toothpastes. Though heavily advertised, these only partially whiten teeth and don't provide a complete remedy. Make sure the toothpaste has the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval and has been clinically proved to whiten teeth effectively. Very few whitening toothpastes have undergone any type of clinical trial, and ones that are too abrasive can damage teeth or make them very sensitive. Step3 Get regular dental cleanings, which remove many food and tobacco stains. No amount of cleaning will remove the severe staining left by tetracycline or systemic disease because these pigments lie inside the tooth; you'll have to take more aggressive measures against these. Step4 Consider the two options, in-office and at-home treatments, for bleaching your teeth. A dentist performs in-office treatments by coating the teeth with a bleaching agent, then using periodic flashes of light to activate the solution. Treatments last 30 to 60 minutes, and the complete procedure often requires several appointments. In at-home treatments, patients wear a mouth guard fitted with bleaching gel 2 hours a day for two weeks, depending on the severity of staining. Step5 Think about getting veneers, which are custom-made shells bonded to the teeth with resins. This procedure often requires removing a small amount of tooth structure and is the most invasive, as well as the most expensive, treatment option. Or you can try some teeth whitening product. This one is good. http://www.teethwhiten.com/?aid=463455

whats the best whitening product and cheapest for you teeth?
i am getting really yellow teeth and i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for white strips or anything else that is cheap!!!! and quick results
--------------------
Overall I would say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others. Our office uses Crest Supreme which are much stronger than what you can buy in a drugstore and don't cost that much more ($60.00 vs $30.00). You can purchase the drugstore version, but do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar or plaque) will impede their ability to work. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). The strips are probably your best low price alternative, much less than in office whitening or custom trays (about $500.00). Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. Whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again. You should see results within the first week if not sooner. Good luck! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

What teeth whitening product?
Actually works?? I want my teeth REALLY white! And just got braces off :-/ So please help?!. Thanks in advance :)
--------------------
i had the same problem with yellowish teeth and i found this product is very effective and very cheap http://www.maximumteethwhitening.com/ i use it on a regular basis and it keeps my teeth white and looking great. It only costs about $30 AUD including the tray for you teeth and a couple of syringes with the gel, Which is cheap compared to the dentist. I put my trays in about twice a week for an hour each and you can notice the difference straight away. I also use it before i have a special occasion and take it out right before i leave. I get lots of compliments on my white teeth which is great. they're also very straight which helps, lol once i had a friends mum ask me if I've been 'sucking on bleach'. haha she was over-exaggerating but you can definitely notice the before and after difference. It doesn't hurt your teeth it just feels a little uncomfortable with the tray in your mouth. I asked around heeps before buying any products and i compared prices, at one stage i was going to go to the dentist and get it professionally done but im sooo glad i tried this out. Ive actually ordered it twice within the past year and am using my second lot now. Also use teeth whitening toothpaste and brush your teeth at least twice a day, if you eat meals at home always brush your teeth after woulds to keep any stains of. And of course avoid coffee and coke if you really want to maintain your pearly whites :)

Anyone had their teeth professionally whitened by a dentist?
My teeth arent yellow or anything, Id just like them to be whiter or a little brighter... but Im tired of using whitening products. With my busy life I dont have time to sit with those things on and I hardly remember. How much does it cost? How long does it take? And what are the pros and cons of having it done professionally at the dentist's office rather than using the over the counter crap that takes forever.
--------------------
Many are choosing professional teeth whitening, having it done by their dentist, as the best possible option. This is more expensive but guarantees a safe, fast and expertly done process that will result in evenly done white teeth. The process is done faster by a dentist; who can whiten your teeth using a process that takes forty five minutes to complete. This process is done in three fifteen minute sessions. By the end of the forty five minutes the dentist will have whitened their patient's teeth by eight to ten shades. Depending on how stained the patient's teeth are this will be a substantial improvement. These benefits and more are what a patient gets by getting their treatment at their dentist's office. The dentist will use a gel that is put on the patient's teeth. There is protection provided to the gums and lips so that the gel will not adversely affect them. As well, unlike the at home kits that can be used, if a person has the treatment done in the dentist's office they will see results immediately. When they leave the dentist's office their teeth will be whiter. At home kits take days and sometimes even weeks to complete the treatment process and so show their results slowly. ANY TEETH WHITENING PRODUCTS OR REMEDIES!?!?
do you know of any remedies or products THAT ACTUALLY WORK!!? im desperate to get whiter teeth! PLEASE!!!
--------------------
I use AltaWhite teeth whitener. It's great because it only takes 1 minute to work - unlike those gels and strips which take much longer to see any results. I'd recommend just requesting a sample from their site to see if this works for you. You just have to pay for the shipping and handling. Its always better to try before you buy and I am sure it will work for everyone including you.

Teeth whitening help!?
I want to bleach my teeth. I have used the strips and my teeth are very sensitive and when I put them on they stung crazy pain. My friend told me about bleaching my teeth. I think I want to do this, where can I buy an at home kit? I DO NOT want my teeth to hurt when I do so. Im looking to spend around 40-50 dollars on a product, please help!

the whitening products the are sold do not really work because the amount of whitening chemical there legally allowed to put in them is not enough to do anything, so only a professional could get you the white smile you see on celebs. that said you could use one of these natural tricks. DIY strips: Combine your toothpaste with baking soda. Apply paste to aluminum foil, and cover teeth. Leave for 1 hour, and brush after removing. Repeat twice a week. Berry effective: Rub a cut strawberry on your teeth (or just let mashed berries sit on your teeth) for a few minutes before rinsing. The Malic acid in the berries helps remove stains. Lemony fresh: Squeeze some lemon drops on your toothbrush, and give trouble spots a good scrubbing. Sage advice: Native Americans used sage to whiten teeth and freshen breath -- try this wise recipe for salty sage tooth whitener: INGREDIENTS 2 tablespoons dried sage leaves 2 tablespoons sea salt 1. Preheat oven to 250F. Using a spice grinder or a mortar and pestle, grind the salt and sage together. 2. Spread mixture evenly on a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, then stir to blend. 3. Scoop some of the mixture onto your toothbrush and brush vigorously. 4. Rinse thoroughly. Cut out the culprit: If teas, coffees, dark-colored sodas, and red wine are constants in your life, replace them with colorless liquids (aka water!), and be sure to brush your teeth after every meal to remove residue. hope this helps.

Whitening teeth?
I have yellowish teeth, even though I am young and I don't drink coffee, DEFINITELY don't smoke, but I do eat candy and chocolate a lot. I brush well two times a day. I have never had a cavity and my dentist says I do well with keeping my teeth clean. I want to use whitening strips to whiten my teeth. They make me self conscious and i hate smiling in pictures because the yellowish coloring is even more prominent there. Can anyone tell me which whitening strips works best quickest? Are there any risks to whitening teeth? Is there a reason why my teeth are yellow, even though I'm still a teenager and don't eat any common sources of yellowing (that i know of)? Also, any good tips for persuading my parents to let me buy strips?
--------------------

For the very best white light tooth solution, see your dentist. They will take impressions, fabricate custom bleaching trays and supply you with a solution. The huge downside to this is the high price. A simple alternative solution that can give you good results would be the whitening kits. My best friend ordered one online since his wife did it and now I'm using it. Talk about white light tooth! I saved money from the dentist and time avoiding the long wait for the baking soda and peroxide method to work.

Having worked in the dental field for many years, the best thing on the market is Zoom 2. In my office, our patient's whiten anywhere from 8-15 shades in a matter of 1-2 hours. A "block out" solution is placed on the surrounding tissues so they are not burned by the strong get. A desensitizing gel is given to the patient. It is placed in their trays immediately after the whitening process and stays in their mouth for perhaps a hour to help get rid of the "zingers" that can sometimes come after the in-office process. Immediate results within a relatively short period of time. A take home touch up kit is also given to the patient to use as needed. (Remember to keep the gel in the fridge as it keeps longer, Gel over 1 year old usually is no longer effective.) Take home kits are okay if you can handle keeping the trays in for 1-2 hours everynight for the next 2-3 weeks. Over the counter are not strong enough for most people to get the results they want. Zoom specials are all over the place. Start calling around to your local dental office. Don't forget that many things we have in our diet and daily living contribute to staining our teeth. Make sure you keep up with your cleanings every 3-6 months as your dentist recommends. Vanish/Varnish (flouride) should be placed at every hygiene appointment. This helps to keep sensitivity under control Obviously, if your teeth are sensitive, go to your dentist to have it checked out. If there is an underlying problem, whitening might be put on hold until you have the treatment completed.

Teeth whitening products?
I don't want to spend a fortune going to the dentise, I looked some products up online and read good reviews, there was one which you bought in a pack of about 12 and you put a white lined thing on the top layer of your teeth then a smaller sized one on the bottom layer. Does anybody know the name of the product I'm talking about? I'm sure it's called crest something... Anyway if you don't I would be grateful if you could recommend some good products.

www.zoomnow.com but for cheaper baking soda and peroxide and crest white strips work just make sure you keep doing it or it won't work properly, good luck.

ppl in the UK care about teeth??? OH, waaaait..... State run heath care.... Ok, the best way to whiten your teeth on the cheap is to grind up strawberries and brush with them once a day. It does work! also, baking soda, citric acid (from fruit), and abstain from tea, coffee, and soda (cola (coke)).

Whitening Teeth??
I'm 15, and I have pretty good teeth, but they are not as white as I would like them to be, Is there anything I can do besides buying the in store whitening strips? Idea?? if not what are some good in store whitening strips or products? thanks!

You could always ask your dentist, but that tends to be really, really expensive. If you want to try whitening without using the strips, you could try whitening toothpaste or mouthwash. I am a fan of the Crest Whitestrips. They worked well for me. I do use them with the Crest whitening mouthwash.

Pollanight Teeth Whitening system - Help?
Has anyone used this before? I've applies this 4 times so far (need to apply for 10 years) and there's not much differance at all. My teeth are a bit sensitive but not unbearable. If you have had any experiences with this product then I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. It cost £250 from my dentist so i'm expecting good results.

Do not use altawhite or idol white they are scams and the company has just been exposed on The Mirror Online .co .uk. You can only take your teeth back to their natural shade, whatever that was-so it depends on how much your teeth have discoloured and what strength and period of whitening you are undergoing with Polanight. Ideally you would be looking for a 10-14 day treatment at around 10-22% carbamide peroxide.

Re Teeth whitening?
I have heard this can make the teeth sensitive and weaken the enamel. Has anyone else heard this report? What is good today , will be no good tomorrow.
--------------------
Yes..it does both and if you have a lot of tooth decay the stronger whitenings would be out of the question because your mouth would be in agony from the sensitivity. If you have good teeth you can do the stronger ones..otherwise use the crest strips. This is what my dentist suggested to me because I had lots of cavities.

Many general dentists do the ZOOM whitening in their offices. It takes about an hour and the results are amazing! It is costly, though. Also, you can ask you dentist about professional whitening kits. They work similar to the ones you buy in the store, but they are stronger and faster. I had the ZOOM whitening done a couple of years ago and I was very happy with the results. It was worth the money it cost.

how much is teeth whitening? at the dentist.?
and how does the proceeder work?
--------------------
It usually ranges from $400-$700. They put a napkin thing around your gums so that it doesn't burn your gums...then they put a bleaching paste on your teeth then put a light over your teeth to activate the paste. It usually doesn't take more than an hour.

Noticeably whiter smile. The operative word is noticeably. You will not get the results of a professional whitening session performed at a dentist's office but it will definitely look better. Hope this helps.

Hey Aaron...Don't go after the cheapest solution. You want something that really works and is cost effective. I have tried a lot of whiteners, and finally found one that works great and doesn't hurt my teeth, gums or bank account. I really like a product called Y10 PRO. This product uses a cool color technology to speed the whitening process. With the faster whitening, you get less sensitivity and gum problems. The great thing is that they have a special running right now.

Can you get your teeth whitened with Brite Smile if you have a permanent retainer on bottom teeth?
After my braces came off, my orthodontist placed a permanent retainer in the back of my lower front teeth and was wondering if it's safe to have teeth bleached? I've heard it can be bad to do this and it could mess up the retainer?
--------------------
No one claims there will be a problem. I have searched the internet and the only problems people have is with striping, where the bar across your teeth prevents a strip of your teeth from whitening like the rest, but if I can remember, permanent retainers are only on the inside? This page http://www.whitersmile.com.au/FAQ.html#3 has a question about retainers and all they mention is that their product will mold around the retainer, not that it will effect it. Others have had questions but have not been told to wait to whiten their teeth. Ask your orthodontist if i you still have doubts but if it won't ruin your teeth, it won't ruin the retainer. Crowns and things won't get whiter with a bleach but it won't effect them. From another Yahoo.com Answers post: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index? "My orthodontist told me not to use toothpaste on my retainer as it makes them go all cloudy." That's about all it will do and since you can't see permanent retainers, you shouldn't worry.

Some people face problems like yellow to faint yellow teeth also because of too much brushing or using products which harm teeth. How to whiten teeth in a short period of time?
I have 1 week to atleast whiten my teeth a little bit.
--------------------
the cheapest way is to dip your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide, sprinkle baking soda on top and brush away- gently at least 2x a day. Otherwise Crest White Strips or similar can do it in a week. Just read the package. Your dentist can also do it in his/her office in an hour using a gel and special light for about two hundred bucks- depending on where you live.

when i had teeth whitening from my dentist it was like $200ish or so which included the plastic mold for your teeth and 2 boxes of the whitening gel which is much more potent than the gel used in the crest etc white strips and other commercial products. the 2 boxes is usually enough to whiten your teeth alot but the dentist still sells the individual tubes of the gel (4 tubes per box) for $10 each after that. what people normally do is just buy a couple tubes per year to keep their teeth white after the initial whitening treatment from the 8 tubes of gel before. as for safe. why would they offer it if it wasnt safe? the only side affect is if you put too much gel it will be in more contact with your gums and it can make your gums sore. in that case the dentist said just to use it every other day or every 2 days so that your gums dont become sore.

Whitening Teeth?
I always brush my teeth and just got back into the habit of flossing them. Well, I was considering trying Trident gum the one that whitens your teeth? Has anybody tried this gum before?Did your teeth get whiter? Does it remove plaque and coffee stains from your teeth? I have an orthodontist appointment and the doctor told me to be sure to brush my teeth and to floss them before I meet with him? I was just wondering if the gum will help as well as brushing and flossing my teeth? I really want to take care of my teeth.
--------------------
Most whitening gums don't actually whiten your teeth very much. Maybe a little. But, unlike other gums, they won't damage your teeth with sugar. And they won't discolor them with dye. Usually "Whitening Gums" just clean the teeth up a bit and freshen your breath.

Is there a tactful way to drop the hint that someone needs to whiten their teeth?
I have an acquaintance with badly stained teeth (coffee), and he would be so much more attractive without the brown teeth! He is single and a nice looking guy, and it would just be such an improvement on his appearance. I was thinking about telling him that I bought some new whitening strips, and I was going to use them just to try to open up the topic to discussion. I don't want to hurt his feelings because he is really nice! Please help!!!
--------------------
It's possible that this guy has sensitive teeth and can't use tooth whitening products (like me). Or, maybe he just doesn't care about the stains enough to do anything about it. Maybe one day you should say that your teeth are aching from these new whitening strips that you got... that way, you're still bringing the topic of tooth whitening up for discussion, but the conversation is still focused on you and it's not an obvious "hint." Hopefully you'll engage him and you'll find out why he hasn't done anything about his stained teeth. If he goes "oh" and lets the topic drop, forget about it-- he probably just doesn't care.

This might sound weird, but banana peels!! You rub the inside of the peel (white part opposite of yellow side) across your teeth for about 5 minutes. Than, you take a tooth brush and brush off the residue. In about a month, you teeth will improve by two shades of white! Good Luck!!! ;D

Hello..Ok, let me first tell you the old saying "haste makes waste" when applied to you would read, ''Haste may ruin your teeth"...if you attempt to whiten your teeth to quickly. Some tooth whitening products can make your teeth very sensitive and some can soften the enamel on your teeth....This is the two issues you need to be very careful about. You need to get an opinion from your Dentist because he or she has your dental records and will know if you need to avoid a particular brand of tooth whitening product. Please be careful what you attempt and how fast you attempt it. Good luck and I wish you well.

How much to get teeth bleached/whitened?
I want to get my teeth bleached/whitened at my local dentist office. I looked on their website and they don't list ANY prices, only what they offer... Could you please tell me what the average price of bleaching/whitening is?
--------------------
The standard fee for teeth whitening and teeth bleaching procedures is about $500 in most cases. Costs can vary depending upon the area of the country you live in and the type of whitening treatment you undergo. Laser teeth whitening is typically over $1000. for example. In-home tray bleaching can cost between $50. and $100. dollars for a total teeth whitening system. Store-bought whitening strips can cost as little as $25. for a total treatment whitening system. Teeth whitening stores, stands and kiosks typically cost between $50. and $150. dollars per treatment. Generally speaking, the price of teeth whitening increases with the number of in-office treatments required by the patient. Dental insurance does not typically cover the cost of the teeth whitening procedure.

teeth whitening bleach? mix peroxide and baking soda together and brush for 3-5 minutes after ever meal as well as before you go to sleep. do this for a couple of months and you'll see your teeth slowly turning white. i tried this and i couldn't wait that long to see results so i tried a teeth whitening kit that i could take home. low and behold, i saw results a lot faster than i expected. i didn't have to spend over $500 to get my teeth whitened by the dentist, saved money with the free trial i found online that sent me the kit...life is great. i hope that helped guide you to the right 'teeth whitening bleach' direction.

teeth whitening bleach? mix peroxide and baking soda together and brush for 3-5 minutes after ever meal as well as before you go to sleep. do this for a couple of months and you'll see your teeth slowly turning white. i tried this and i couldn't wait that long to see results so i tried a teeth whitening kit that i could take home. low and behold, i saw results a lot faster than i expected. i didn't have to spend over $500 to get my teeth whitened by the dentist, saved money with the free trial i found online that sent me the kit...life is great. i hope that helped guide you to the right 'teeth whitening bleach' direction.

Teeth whitening Question..?
I want to whiten my teeth but can't afford the professional treatments at the dentist. I've tried Crest Whitestrips but they make my gums hurt and the paste on the strips foam when it hits my gums, maybe I had a cut? It was excruciating pain. Anyway, I've done some research and it looks like brushing with hydrogen peroxide hurts the enamel and makes teeth prone to cavities. What else is there for me?

I have white spots on my teeth, will zoom whitening make them less noticable or worse?
Is Zoom whitening worth the money?
--------------------
The white spots are caused from excessive fluoride ingested; it's called fluorosis and described as mottling. I would not recommend the zoom bleaching system especially to you due to the mottling. I'm speaking from the voice of experience since I've tried the zoom and brite smile, but I've used and still use my bleaching trays, for over ten or twelve years now, so what does that tell you? Most patients are extremely happy with the bleaching trays and solutions that your dentist can offer you. This method takes about two weeks to achieve the brightness you want and allows you to touch up months later when you feel like your teeth are getting a little dark. You use the trays for about 30 minutes to an hour, once or twice each day for two weeks, sometimes a little longer depending on the darkness of your teeth. There are various solutions of different strengths that can be used so that sensitivity is minimal. The zoom doesn't offer this, it's only advantage is that it takes an hour giving you the instant brightness that most patients want. Now I can tell you that all of the one hour products say they last a year or even two but I was using my trays within 6 months time after both of them. The one hour systems are about $600 for (what they say) a year vs. approximately $400 for many years. Like I said, I've used my same ones well over ten years that I can remember. Most patients don't wear the trays out; they burn them with hot curling irons or misplace them. So with the fluorosis that you have I would definitely use the dental bleaching trays so that "you" can monitor your whiteness level. I think you will be much happier with this method. Discuss this with your dentist, I'm sure he will give you the same information about the "trays" that I have. I don't think you will get the same information about the one hour system though, if his office is trying to sell it. Hope I've been of some help and good luck with which ever method that you choose. I almost forgot your question, yes it will make them more noticeable in the beginning, but as your teeth get brighter and lighter they will blend better. My daughter has the same problem and hers seemed to disappear after she did her bleaching trays. I hate to admit this, but no I do not think that Zoom is worth the money that most dentists are charging for the session. Additional information: You are correct, if they have the system they try to sell it and I hate that this is done by some dentist but it is. You have to understand, they have a price tag to pay for this equipment, even if it's not used. Some dentist will place, or have the lab place a "block" on the model prior to making the trays so they have a "pocket" or slight indentation. I prefer to make my own "without the block" added to the model. This way you use "less bleaching material", which means "less waste," the tray "fits tighter" over the teeth since it's been made from an exact replica of your teeth, which allows the material to be "expressed over the face of each tooth's entirety." This will give you an even bleaching process each and every time you bleach. You may have some of the material, usually on the lower anterior that seeps some on the bottom, but the material is pretty thick and will adhere to the teeth, so a little seepage is fine and should be wiped off. As far as saliva going up under the trays, it's not a possibility if the trays fit tight and are placed correctly. You might want to ask your dentist "not" to place the block on the model so the tray fits completely against the teeth. Some cases I've seen with the block placed have a tendency to allow the solution to "pool" leaving a space at the top of the upper near the tissue, and at the lower missing the incical edge of the teeth that doesn't get bleached as well. I just prefer to make mine without any added material, that way I'm sure the bleach will be flattened or expressed over the entire surface of the face of each tooth. I'm sure after you discuss this with your dentist he will make the trays without the block if you request it, unless he makes them that way already. If there is anything else I can help you with just let me know. Good luck, I'm sure you will love the bleaching process, how well it works and you're new brighter whiter smile!
