Can anyone give me the 411 on Teeth Whitening.....How long does it take? Will I be able to eat the same day? Can I smile without it being uncomfortable? I am debating on when to do it - Because my dilemma is I only have one opportunity to get it done and it happens to be on the same day as my husbands College Graduation - So of course I will be full of smiles and conversation with everyone on that day. My teeth didn't hurt at all and I figured that maybe this time I would be lucky with them, (because I've used them before and they killed me!). Well, not until later this evening did my teeth start feeling sensitive.... Well, "budget" is pretty subjective, but my dentist turned me on to Tres Whites, and they worked great. He charged me $100 for a package (7 trays for 7 applications to both uppers and lowers) but I've since found them online A LOT cheaper -- http://www.dentist.net/tres-white-melon.… You only need to use them once or twice a year, and they worked great for me. None of the stuff at the grocery store (white stripes, Rembrandt toothpaste, etc.) seemed to work at all on my teeth, but I did find that the Rembrandt paste helped my teeth stay whiter longer after using Tres Whites. They come in three flavors, and it only takes 45 minutes to an hour a day for one week to see major improvement. The only downside is they make your teeth pretty sensitive for a while. Lasts another week or so after you're done. It's uncomfortable, but not intolerable by any means. Seeing as the dentist charges over $700 for custom trays, this seemed like a bargain. Not to mention the fact that he's the one that told me they work just about as good as the $700 job. Good luck! Straight teeth are great, but straight white teeth are awesome.

As the directions state - Do not brush BEFORE using strips. The chemicals are harsh on the teeth. It is fine to brush after. The chemicals already did what they are going to do.

Home Teeth Whitening - Saliva is a problem...?

I want some good ideas for at home teeth whitening solutions. Problem with things such as whitestrips or mouthtrays is no matter how hard I seem to try, my mouth produces ridiculous amounts of saliva no matter how hard I try. I literally have an ocean of saliva that makes using these methods too difficult. Anyone have ideas to either eliminate this problem or avoid it? Thanks

Hi Ace, I have tried to use the trays before and I do have the same result as you do... just don't know why there are just so much saliva come out! Therefore, i kinda stop using it as it seems didn't do any good to me! Somehow, I have choosen to use other methods such as the powder way or the pen way! Recently there are many teeth whitening product that provide different techniques to suitable to other people! I personally use the powder ones, which I just use a swap to put the powder over my teeth, and it stops the saliva problem, plus even you have lots of saliva, it won't really affect the results! This deal sounds too good to be true, actually. Read all of the fine print and don't sign anything until you know for sure that all they plan to do is the whitening. Often times when a dental office advertises a low fee for something, it is to get you in the door, then they tell you that you need thousands of dollars of other treatment before the advertised treatment can be done. So my advice to you is to be careful.

It isnt very strong, but it does work. I would recommend whitening your teeth with a kit, then using this to preserve the whitening. That's what I do. You can use it with braces, but be careful. If you whiten your teeth while wearing braces, You will have yellow spots where the metal stubs used to be after you get them off. I would wait until they are off and do the whitening at one time.

Yes, over time. But do not use it full strength, since it is damaging to the gums. It does, however take a VERY long time, and you may find that whitening strips or the process of lazers at your dentist (zoom) will do the trick faster

I recommend have your teeth professionally bleached at your dental office. I am a certified dental assistant and I bleach patients teeth all the time. At our office we use ZOOM which is an absolutely great product. It takes about an hour and a half and you also get bleaching trays to maintenance at home. The patients I have bleached did say several hours after getting bleached their teeth were very sensitive, but by the next day the sensitivity was gone and well worth it because they had great results. The prize of ZOOM or any other in office bleaching differs in price depending on the area in which your live. I'm in West Virginia (and yes we do have teeth in WV, lol) and the price is about $400. Also the results are instant.

They will make a mold of your teeth. You will bite down on this puddy-like stuff to make the impression. This isn't painful. They will make the mouthpiece from the mold in a couple of days and you will go back to the office to get your mouthpiece & gel for bleeching the teeth. Some folks have gum sensitivity, but I had no pain at all.

If you want to try professional, I don't recommend trays with actual bleach. It will tend to make your teeth extremely sensitive, and painful at times. And with some if you get it on your gums, it will burn them and slough them off almost immediately. So.....professional bleaching I would go with the one office visit, laser. Painless, yet expensive. With lasting results.

well, if you want results that actually is worth your buck, then crest whitening strips are your best bet. from first hand experience, i've had several comments when i was a server, and my pictures have dramatically whiter teeth... than the other people in the picture =). i believe is goes far for how much you're actually spending in the end. it's 30 bucks or so, and lasts 18 months. i think that's a bargain, if you ask me.

well, i work in a dental office and i think the in office whitening is just too expensive. i use the good old crest whitestrips and my teeth are nice and white. just keep in mind that you shouldn't drink or eat anything that is bold in color directly after whitening. (red wine, coffee, dark pop, etc.) if you do have sensitivity, i use pronamel, which helps rebuild the enamel. it is a bit pricey, but well worth it, as you only use it every few months. hope this helps:)

I have a problem with teeth whitening. I brush my teeth three times a day (once after every meal) for ten minutes, very carefully. I floss once a day, adding another ten minutes to my brushing. I rinse my mouth with mouth wash (most of the time Listerine) twice a day (for thirty seconds). It's not that my teeth isn't clean. It just isn't ridiculously white. It's cleaner than a lot of people I know, but it still isn't "business" white or as white as a few people. What am I doing wrong?

Brushing your teeth like that will not always keep the bright and white. Ten minutes per brushing is VERY excessive - three at the most. How are your gums doing with all that brushing? If you want to try whitening your teeth while brushing, use pure baking soda. Put a bit of water on it and brush away. I use to do that in my 20's and got compliments ALL the time about how white my teeth were - and I SMOKED back then! It works - just use it consistently.

The reason for this is because using a product like whitening strips; you will whiten your teeth in a short amount of time. Using gums and toothpaste will take longer and more importantly expose your teeth to the abrasive products for longer periods of time. This will result in tooth sensitivity and discomfort. If our going to whiten your teeth, then do it right and use the correct product then go back to normal toothpaste and products so that you do not have any side effects. Oh and if you could afford I the best way to whiten I think (through experience) is by letting you dentist do custom trays and buy the prescription whitening product. It is a higher strength and produces dramatic results.

if you really can't buy mouthwash, toothpaste, bleaching jell, whitening strips/ trays, floss..... try BAKING SODA AND PEROXIDE. Mouthwash with peroxide after you brush with the newly mixed ''paste''. its an old fashion remady. just don't get a TON of it on your gums.

what they do, or what they did to me is they made impressions of my mouth it took like a week to get the actual trays back but i dont know about you so you take them home and they give you a tube of bleach. and squirt it in there and repeat it. :) hope i helped.

Hyrdrogen Peroxide and baking soda actually do a pretty nice job whitening your teeth, but it can take a while. I would say Crest Whitestrips. I've used them a few times and I actually just bought a pack today for $30 its a 10 day supply and I don't think anything has worked better for me. Another thing she could do is go on eBay and buy some of the imported stuff. It's real cheap and it comes with a mouth tray that molds to your teeth. This has worked well for me also. Hi, It is kind of hard to to say what is the best whitening system. if you are not going to use paint on (which i personally like very much) or strips, that leaves you only with whitening trays. I would recommend you use products with 5%-6% hydrogen peroxide or 20%-25% Carbamide peroxide which is the equivalent. I suggest you read a little more about teeth whitening. I am a dentist in America but the equipment and procedures are all the same. The "laser" procedure just uses a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide. It works very well. You can get just as white by using the other stuff it will just take longer.

It isnt very strong, but it does work. I would recommend whitening your teeth with a kit, then using this to preserve the whitening. That's what I do. You can use it with braces, but be careful. If you whiten your teeth while wearing braces, You will have yellow spots where the metal stubs used to be after you get them off. I would wait until they are off and do the whitening at one time.

You could do that...but they likely would be difficult to keep in. Best tip....smile your widest. That is as far back as you need to whiten. Otherwise no one is going to see your whitened back teeth. You would be wasting good money if it were not needed. If you still want to cover all your teeth then I would suggest that you go to your dentist and have bleaching trays made. They are more costly but they cover every tooth. Plus you have to buy the bleach from the dentist each time you run out.

I was working at a dentist office for 5 years and I have used the tray myself. It really works. We were using a gel called Nite White. You had to wear the tray either overnight or for 8 straight hours. You can see the result within a week. It will last for about a year/year and a half depending on the food you take (coke, coffee, smoke, etc make the tooth yellow faster). You can always get a refill kit. The tray is pretty easy to use. It fits tight on your teeth since they take a mold, so you won't have as much saliva problem as with the strips. It ay take you a day or two before you get used to it. What we recommended to our patients was to use the upper tray for 2 nights first to see the difference. The only thing you need to make sure about before using the gel is you don't have any cavities. The gel causes teeth and gum sensitivity and if you have any cavities, it can get painful. One disadvantage to bleaching teeth (either method) is if you havee white fillings, it will not change the color of the fillings. So, if you hav any fillings specially on the front teeth, you may have to replace them with the whiter shade fillings once you are done with the whitening. Hope it helps

The best products are the kits you can get from your dentist, but I have pretty much all the home remedies and I found that the crest extra whitening toothpaste plus scope and the 14-day crest white strips do a great job. I use the toothpaste regularly and the followed one box of crest strips as suggested and now use a set of strips once or twice a week. I was talking with my dentist the other day and he noticed how white my teeth were and we got talking and he asked what I had been doing. He said the crest stuff and all the home kits tend to not work that well unless people stay away from overly dyed foods, like koolaids, dark pop, coffee, tea, etc. So if you really want them to work and last be sure to reduce your intake of these things. The cheap kits have a mouth shield that will fit anyone, so you don't get the desired results. What you need to do is go along to a dentist and have a mould taken of your teeth. You will have a pair of shields that fit you very snug and will last for a very long time (lifetime). The bleaching agent can be bought from ebay very cheaply. Dentist charge £25 for a syringe and I paid just under a fiver for the same stuff. Don't go down the false economy route.

If you see that your gums turn white after you finish, its normal just clean with a wash cloth also it just means the peroxide is killing germs. :)

Yesterday I did that Rembrandt 2 hours whitening kit, followed the directions correctly except actually left more time in-between the treatments. Today my teeth just feel sore, it is not to bad but I have no tried eating/drinking yet. I was wondering if anyone could suggest anything until it goes away? Would just taking a tylenol help?

I've started using a 35% Carbamide peroxide whitening gel with a silicone impression tray..but it has only whitened certain angles/parts of my teeth. I filled the tray with an equal amount of gel but it still left me with this result. If i keep on whitening will it whiten the whole area of the teeth? You can brush ur teeth with colgate total which is a great toothpaste and add a bit of backing powder wich will whiten ur teeth pretty fast once there are white u should stop using the baking powder though cuz it may cuz the lost of tooth enamel if u use it for over 2 months straight. and for the weight u have to stop drinking pops and gatorade those things have crazy amount of sugar in them drink natural apple juice or orange juice (nothing from juice boxes)or water i dont know what u eat but u should only eat 3 meals a day and maybe 1 snack and 1 dessert. keep junk food once a week and i u want too slim fast drink those shaques that fill u up i dont know what there called but u can find them at any pharmacie or food store and remember to excersise and play sports sitting on the couch wont help u !!!!
