What's the safest cheapest way to whiten your teeth at home?
What's the cheapest way to whiten your teeth at home? I've heard of using baking soda but some say it isn't safe is that true and is there something that's not in a form of a paste, strip or a trip to the dentist that will help me whiten my teeth? Thanks for Your Help!

crest whitestrips!!! but sometimes those can even be a bit pricey so either get the store brand of them or... brush your teeth at least 3 times and floss daily and use hydrogen peroxide mixed halfway with water as a oral mouthwash. there is no sugar in it and its safe and effective. just buy a bottle from the dollarstore and its about a dollar. It regards a company called 'white-again' teeth whitening gel?
I bought some of this gel lastt year from a beauty show in manchester, reputable I would have thought, at a cost of £30, not cheap. When I arrived home the gel had spilled all over the bag as the top was not on properly, I took it from the bag and then my fingers went white and were burning for about 5 hours, even after washing. I tried the website white-again.com, does not exist Tried to find a phone number--none! finally I wrote asking for a replacement and their thoughts. The letter was never returned nor did I receive a reply. Today that same show is on in Manchester and hey! the same stand is there. I spoke quietly to a man they directed me to who supposedly is the Manager, I asked what they would do, he offered firstly to replace it to which I said I would prefer a refund due to what happened, I also told him the product must be full of peroxide to burn in that way, I suggested he replace and also give another. He became extremely rude he was in fact obnoxious. I asked if he would rather I tell all his customers to which he walked away. I then went to the organizers to tell them what had happened and they are powerless to do anything. I have returned with the item. Can anyone help and advise me what to do I am a pensioner and can ill afford to lose £30

Or having to blow a lot of money. I use colgate total(which says whitening on the tube) and listerine both AT LEAST twice a day. I have the whitening listerine but I don't like it as much as the regular. I'm just curious as I am starting to see things in the world much differently. When growing up I used to use on my teeth and it would really whiten. It used to advertise teeth whitening on the box. It no longer advertises that its use is for whitening teeth and Im wondering if its because its not good for your teeth.

Our office uses Crest Supreme which are much stronger than what you can buy in a drugstore and don't cost that much more ($60.00 vs $30.00). You can purchase the drugstore version, but do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar or plaque) will impede their ability to work. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). The strips are probably your best low price alternative, much less than in office whitening or custom trays (about $500.00). I am also hearing happy reviews with the Aquafresh whitening trays, unlike the strips they don't have the tendency to slip or move). All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. What would help to get my teeth whiten?
Should I be eating certain foods, or not eating certain foods. Any cheap and effective ways. I am going to be in a wedding this summer so I want them as white as they can get. My teeth aren't yellow they just aren't as white as I would like them to be.

I always have my patients use it for 2 weeks before they start whitening and then continue to use it while you are whitening. I grind my teeth as well and I bleached my teeth but I could not keep it on as long as suggested because of sensitivity so it took me a little longer to get them as white as they could be but it helped out. It just might take you a little longer like it did with me.

If I use a mouthwash that whitens teeth with braces on, will I end up with stains when they come off?
I have this mouthwash that you use and then brush your teeth after you spit it out (I think the brand is Listerine but I don't remember exactly) and it whitens your teeth. What is the best whitening system? Is it easier and better just to go to the Dentist and have him do it?

From my experience the dentist whitening system works much better, especially if you can find a time when they have a good deal on it. They will make imprints of your teeth and create trays especially for you, and then you can always reuse them and you will only have to pay for the chemical for future appointments, it worked so well, and im a smoker and my teeth were still much whiter then they have ever been before. Ive also tried strips from the store and stuff, but they never worked for me.

After whitening my teeth, extreme gum pain...what should I do?
I whitened my teeth several days ago, and I have whitened my teeth several times before, without problems. This time, however, my gums were very sensitive, and have slowly worsened, and are now to the point where I can't eat or talk without extreme pain. My gums and the part that connects my lip to my gums, are in extreme pain. My advice as a dental hygienist try the strips first and if your not happy with the results u can even try the whitening trays from your dentist or zoom which is an hour procedure.

Keep spitting the peroxide out until your mouth is as empty of the peroxide as it can be, scraping your tongue with your teeth each time before spitting. Then dry your tongue and outside of your mouth with a clean dry towel and leave your teeth at that until time for the next brushing, then repeat this procedure. I think you should start to see a big improvement in the brightness of your teeth within the first couple of days.

I once had a bad fall which made my tooth discolor, I done root canal treatment on that tooth. So, is it alright to use whitening strips on it? And will the whitening strips regains my discolor tooth back to the normal teeth color I have?

With what I know, the discoloration comes from the inside of the tooth, and the whitening can't reach too far into the tooth. If it did, then your vital teeth would all get painful. There is such a thing as intracoronal bleaching wherein a bleaching agent is placed within the root canal treated tooth to whiten its shade. Another solution that I can recommend is for you to have your teeth whitened, then if you feel that trauma tooth is still an off color compared to your other teeth, then you can go to a Dentist and have that tooth crowned. Will whitening strips help decrease the appearance of decalcification?
My little sister got her braces off a few days ago and her teeth have these little white stains on her front teeth. It's not terrible, but of course it doesn't look good and she's pretty upset about it. If we got her some really good whitening treatment for her teeth, will it help it go away?

Nah, its not perminant. If you put bleach on your skin, you will get little white dots too. its nothing to be worried about. The peroxide was just killing the bacteria and some of the tissue on your gums. Just leave it alone... It should be gone in an hour or so.

Seeing as how braces will cover up parts of your teeth that can't be brushed, does the orthodontic typically bleach/whiten your teeth after taking off your braces? I ask because people's teeth are unusually really white after getting their braces off.

Alot of websites claim you can acheive the ONE HOUR whitening, normally available at the dentists office, with this pen. It's much cheaper than in office whitening and seems to be much more effective and efficient than the trays so it makes me really curious as to why its inexpensive compared to the other procedures... Question about whitening my teeth with NiteWhite?
I have been whitening my teeth for 3 days now with NiteWhite ACP but am seeing no results yet. It has 10% carbamide peroxide. I was told to use it about 30 minutes a day (once a day), but after doing a bit of research online it seems like I may have been told the wrong thing. From what I've read the 22% should be worn at least an hour, so if I'm on the 10% shouldn't I be wearing it like two hours or more each day? I have no instructions because I wasn't given any kind of NiteWhite box or anything. I really am feeling like I might not be wearing it long enough because I'm not even experiencing any sensitivity whatsoever. Should I start wearing it longer?? Thanks for any help

Any easy home remedies to whiten teeth quickly before school starts in a week?
I have light yellow teeth and I brush my teeth at least 2 times a day. I sometimes drink tea and rarely any coffee. School starts in less than a week or about, and I want my teeth to be a little bit more white. Any home remedies without going to the dentist or having to go to the store to buy something? If not, then please list any things I can buy for a CHEAP price that is very effective.

The baking soda solution in the previous answer is a good one, but you can make it better by mixing the baking soda with a little hydrogen peroxide, which you can buy for very little in any pharmacy, Make a paste with the peroxide and the baking soda, and brush with that. Just be realistic. There is a reason why the makers of expensive commercial products can get away with charging so much. They work better than cheap home remedies. Still, if your teeth are only light yellow, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide may be all you need, so it iis worth giving that a try. Having a crown replacement procedure done, any advice about whitening my teeth too?
I am replacing my top (middle) 2 front teeth (from a gnarly bike wipeout in 4th grade) sometime b4 this yr is over. I am currently on my 2nd set of porcelain crowns which were done in 7th or 8th grade. I am now 25 & replacing them since it's been over 10 yrs (so they're gettin pretty old, obviously) & also b/c they're not as asthetically appealing as they used to be & my gums have receded a little bit baring my natural teeth @ tha very top of my crown, which my dentist has assured me is due to normal aging gums. I want to bleach tha rest of my teeth (since crowns can't be bleached) quite a bit for a brighter, whiter & newer smile with these new crowns. I am planning on asking my dentist her opinion but I want others' opinions as well. Should I whiten my teeth B4 tha new crowns are cemented in & match it th@ way or after (& have tha crowns made as white as I want tha rest of my teeth to be)? Use a home whitening kit or a dentist whitening kit? SERIOUS OPINIONS/ANSWERS ONLY!!!

Animal Luvr is right. Get the teeth to their whitest shade and then the dentist will color match the shade of the material to your new shade. The filling material will not whiten so if you place it and match the shade of your teeth before they are whitened, then when your teeth are whiter the material will be darker and stick out like a sore thumb..Also whitening strips work to some degree but will not be as good as if the dentist puts on his more powerful solution.

Try crest whitestrips, my mom uses them and they really work, i can't use them right now, though, because i have braces, but once i get them off, i will use them. There is also this whole Crest package that you can buy at target or wal mart that comes with the whitestrips, whitening toothpaste, and whitening mouthwash. I think that would be a great buy! Hope it helps!

Sure it's safe to do. Why wouldn't it be OK? But, why whiten them to look beautiful and then cover them up with the braces? Most people would do it in the reverse order so that people can admire their straight teeth and the whiteness at the same time.
