Hey... I just wanted to let you know that whiteners don't damage your teeth. They can, however, cause your teeth to be slightly sensitive. This doesn't mean the bleach has damaged your teeth. Crest Whitestrips do a great job of whitening as long as your teeth are straight. Because they are just a flimsy strip, they don't contour well if you have crooked teeth. If your teeth aren't perfectly straight, I would look in the phonebook and start calling around to see if any dentists in your area offer free or discounted whitening to new patients. A lot of times, if you get an initial exam and xrays (which insurance SHOULD pay for) you can get custom bleach trays and professional strength bleach. This is the fastest way to whiten. The whiteners that dentists use are basically the same thing you can buy at the store, only a higher concentration of peroxide.

is it healthy to use baking soda when brushing your teeth?
My mom suggested using baking soda on my toothpaste when I brush my teeth to help whiten instead of purchasing over the counter products. Is it healthy and if not why isnt it healthy>? If its okay to do this how many times is okay? ex once a week?

OK, I swear by brushing with baking soda! I brush with it everyday once a day. And give it a week and you have beautiful white teeth. And just remember, baking soda is completly healthy for you. It won't hurt you! If it did hurt you, why do people bake with it??? :)

Zoom whitening RIGHT after getting braces off?
Okay so i get my braces off on wednesday (YAYY) and im getting Zoom whitening on my teeth a couple hours after i get them off. Is that a bad idea?

If whitening is attempted before all of the glue comes off naturally, the potential for 'spots' or streaking on the teeth from uneven whitening increases. Therefore, I would suggest a minimum of three to four weeks before I would use any type of strong whitening outside of toothpaste. 2) Despite all of the RELATIVELY expensive tooth whitening toothpastes on the market, you can use a simple home remedy of baking soda on your toothbrush after regular brushing. This works as good, if not better than a toothpaste, and is cheaper. It does not taste great though. The problem with the 'painted on' whiteners is that they do not last very long, and over the long haul, they will cost A LOT to maintain. The alternatives to bright white from Target or Wal-mart are effective, but do not last nearly as long as those that you can buy from your dentist (Brite White and Zoom). While these are significantly more expensive than store brands, they will last one to two years without outside maintenance, and they are more effective. How do I get rid of blueberry stains on my teeth?
I've been eating dried blueberries for their antioxidants, but now have stains on my front teeth because of them. I use a whitening toothpaste and have tried some whitening strips, but they aren't that effective.

Does Sensodyne Pronamel Gentle Whitening Toothpaste really work ?
I'm 15 and I was thinking about whitening my teeth without professional health because it's a little expensive and i'm trying to save up to get my own car. Every single toothpaste and mouthwash I've used say they whiten teeth and fight cavities. I've used all of them and I brush twice a day, but I still have the same cavities and my teeth are still not any whiter. Don't say whitening strips because I have braces

Teeth whitening London?
Hi, I would like to get my teeth whitened in London but a lot of these places seem like make - shift surgeries etc. I have asked my dentist and she said was that "your teeth are pretty white, you don't want a fake american hollywood smile" . . . errr hello, my money my choice. So because of that, I would rather not go to my dentist because I am not sure she will give me the result I want. I just want to see a huge difference. I currently use "plus white" from the US and another toothpaste with hydrogen peroxide - my teeth are noticeably clearer after the toothpaste but need more white. I have heard of ZOOM whitening, has anyone done this in the UK, if so where and what were the results? If you have used something else - please advise. Thanks

I have previously used Britesmile (3 times now) for teeth whitening and until this 3rd treatment on Saturday, I was recommending them. They have changed thier methods and I was highly disappointed. I'm sorry, but for $300 or more, I expect their dental assistant person to prep me for having my teeth whitened - as they had done the 1st & 2nd times I had gone. They have changed to a more "do it yourself" method. In the past - you brushed your own teeth, sat down in the chair, their dental assistant person put a thing in your mouth to keep your lips open & away from the gel. They put a protective gel over your gums. They applied the gel/goop directly to your teeth. They set the light up and you sat for 20mins each session. Most of that has changed. there's more ...

I got my teeth whitened a couple years ago - I still have the plastic thing that you put over your teeth (customized for my teeth at the dentist). But I can't remember what brand the whitening gel was. I'm pretty sure I can get it online for much cheaper but I can't remember the particular brand. It worked great. I've been using some Crest White Strips Pro Effects - "highest whitening at retail".. They seem to be working alright, probably will need a second box to get my teeth super-white. However, the strips only whiten what is generally visible when you smile. Is there an easy/somewhat inexpensive way to lighten the rest of my teeth a bit? Would using peroxide as a mouthwash for durations of time have an effect?

Is peroxide safe to use to whiten teeth?

You can use hydrogen peroxide straight as a rinse to whiten your teeth (it's mostly water already). My grandma has done it for years, it's an old fashioned home remedy. In fact, the listerine whitening pre-brushing rinse is mostly hydrogen peroxide! Make sure not to swallow it, though. And be aware that it can be very drying... I don't use the hydrogen peroxide myself, but the listerine rinse made my mouth peel if I used it too much.

That actually sounded really stupid.. but just to comfirm.. Is that the same way as saying that it whitens teeth? I have braces so I obviously don't want to use whitening toothpaste and I picked up a tube of Extreme Clean Empowermint by Aquafresh.. I need a good tooth whitening product!?
I had braces for 5 years, and during that time my ortho had me use fluoride twice a day. Now I find out that even though it made them otherwise healthy, fluoride actually darkens your teeth! Also, my teeth are very sensitive since the braces came off (even though that was over a year ago). I have had in-office bleaching done at my dentist, and it did lighten me a couple shades, but it hurt soooooooooooo bad for about 3 days afterward, like the air was too cold and it felt like my teeth were about to fall out. Same thing with white strips. So I'm going to have to go with something gentler in the future. I went through 5 years of braces, and it cost a lot of money and a lot of pain, and I want to be happy with my smile. Does anyone know of a whitening toothpaste or mouthwash that really works?

How to help sensitive teeth?
I've just had my teeth whitened and everytime I used the 'at home kit' that I have to use until next week my teeth are unbearably sensitive. I've taken some neurofen to ease it but i need another non-toothpaste/chemical solution. I really can't stand it. What will happen if you wear a Dental Whitening system(over the counter) overnight, if they are only...?

What do you do to whiten your teeth?
I want the most cost effective, quick dramatic results. I have some bonding done, and I know it won't really change colors, but I'm getting the bonding redone, and when they take off the old bonding, I'm going to whiten my teeth and they're going to match the new bonding. I have been drinking more and more coffee lately - and the colour of my teeth is beginning to become tainted. I was wondering if I could use two whitening strips on my top row of my teeth? I started using the Crest whitening strips this past saturday. And I have notice that my bottom teeth are sensitive to drinking or touching them. I have been trying to find a way to remove cigarette / coffee / wine stains from my teeth. The strips won't work well, since I have crocked teeth :) and most of the stains are on the inner side. I have never heard of brush- on whitening but I do know of toothpastes that will help you remove stains. Arm and Hammer whitening toothpaste works AMAZING! I personally used this and my teeth went three shades lighter after one week. When I ran out of toothpaste though, the whiteness faded away :/

don't know about that but my dentiast says baking soda mixture with water will help alot. here is what you do: - Take a small glass and fill with a teaspoon of baking soda. - Add a pinch of salt. - Dissolve the mixture with water into a paste. - Brush your teeth like you would normally. - Rinse your mouth out well with water. if you fell a tingling sensation while your brushing, it is normal, don't worry. but only use this once every two weeks because it can erode your teeth if overused. same with lemon juice and EVOO; olive oil. t can also get rid of orthodontic glue, so dont use this if you have braces!!! hope this helps! =D

don't know about that but my dentiast says baking soda mixture with water will help alot. here is what you do: - Take a small glass and fill with a teaspoon of baking soda. - Add a pinch of salt. - Dissolve the mixture with water into a paste. - Brush your teeth like you would normally. - Rinse your mouth out well with water. if you fell a tingling sensation while your brushing, it is normal, don't worry. but only use this once every two weeks because it can erode your teeth if overused. same with lemon juice and EVOO; olive oil. t can also get rid of orthodontic glue, so dont use this if you have braces!!! hope this helps! =D

Teeth whitening at home?
I get my braces off on wednesday (soo excited!) and im getting them bleached from the dentist but not until friday. I know people will ask me to see my teeth when i get them off wednesday and thursday night, and i want them whiter right when people see me. so is there any at home things i can do to make them whiter within hours? i know crest white strips work over time but if i kept them in longer would that work? or any trays?

i know theres things at stores you can buy that you would like wear for 2 hours and they might make them a little whiter. also anything with baking soda i know makes them whiter but not right away but once you get your braces off they'll probably be pretty white cause the ortho polishes them and does all this other stuff to them.

I was given a gift yesterday, a device at CVS pharmacy that is suppose to whiten your teeth.. It is called Ionic White and it's Light Activated using 7 LED lights. I paid $19.99 for this but I was wondering if it could be harmful to my teeth?

I don't really care about the "quick fix" stuff that's highly expensive and bad for your teeths sensitivity, but I have been using 'pepsodent' or something for SEVERAL weeks, maybe months, and it's supposed to whiten my teeth and I haven't noticed anything! I have bleaching trays... but I can't find them.. haha.. and anyway my teeth are very sensitive and it hurts! It makes my enamel see-through almost.. I just want some really good toothpaste that strengthens them and stuff. What works?
